Progress report for
The Arctic Film Festival
Achievement at a glance
A 3-hour educational guided bus tour that was provided by the event free of charge to the participants that the festival team and all 8 filmmakers attended that was a great education on the history of Svalbard and how climate change has affected the region, and the strategic position the area holds for western and Russian interests particularly. Stops were made at the Global Seed Vault, the Longyearbyen coal mines, and the Arctic World Archive.Immediately after that a 7 hour boat expedition in partnership with Arctic Explorers commenced which took all the filmmakers out on the sea to the Arctic ice shelf and Pyramiden, which is an abandoned Soviet mining settlement which is now seeing a small resurgence in activity.
