Progress report for
Solar Light Distribution Program
Achievement at a glance
Let There Be Light International programming is advancing SDGs3, 7, 13 and 17 by ensuring that vulnerable households with infants and children have access to safe solar lights to replace their open-flamed kerosene lamps. We are promoting maternal and child health through the solar-electrification of health clinics and raising awareness about the health and safety benefits of using solar lights. To-date, we have solar-electrified 31 off-grid Health Center II and III clinics in Uganda, impacting the healthcare access and delivery for 555,000 people. We have also donated 11,000 safe solar lights to prioritized off-grid families in Uganda, Malawi, and Kenya, impacting the daily health and safety of 58,000 people. We have also launched a pilot project called Safe Births + Healthy Homes in Uganda that incentivizes attended births by donating a pico solar light to new mothers for use at home through their local birth attendant at HCIII clinics.Challenges faced in implementation
