
Mr. Peter Gluckman
Chief Science Advisor to Prime Minister, New Zealand
Mr. Peter David Gluckman is Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and Chair of the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA). Sir Peter Gluckman is also the University Distinguished Professorship of Paediatric and Perinatal Biology at the University of Auckland, having previously served as Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Dean of the University's Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and founding Director of the Liggins Institute. He co-chaired the WHO Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity. He holds honorary chairs at the National University of Singapore and the University of Southampton; and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine of the United States, a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Great Britain and a Fellow of the Royal Society of London. Sir Peter’s research focused on children’s growth and development and what gives people a healthy start to life: understanding how a baby's environment between conception and birth influences its childhood development and lifelong health. More recently his writing has focused on the interactions between science and policy and science and diplomacy.
