The transport sector is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate change, and to air and noise pollution; transport infrastructures are also vulnerable the impacts of climate change related extreme weather events. Against this backdrop, Session 4 will focus on the huge potential for mobilizing the transport sector for climate action. Discussions will focus on how environmental externalities in the transport sector can be minimized to help achieve the SDGs and global climate commitments and advance green development. Discussions will also consider measures for climate change adaptation, mitigation, and resilience-building across all modes of transport. Positive examples of how the transport sector has contributed to climate action will be shared with consideration for how such initiatives might be scaled up.
