High-level Expert Group Meeting for the Global Sustainable Development Report - Engaging National Assessments

Background
The Expert Group Meeting for the Global Sustainable Development Report 2013 – Engaging National Assessments is co-sponsored by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division for Sustainable Development, and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China. This Expert Group Meeting (EGM) will be held at the Administrative Centre for China’s Agenda 21 in Beijing, from 12 to 13 December 2013.
The Rio+20 Outcome identifies as among the functions of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) to strengthen the science-policy interface among others by bringing together dispersed information and assessments, including in the form of a global sustainable development report, building on existing assessments, as well as to enhance evidence-based decision-making at all levels.
This EGM is intended to contribute to the work of the HLPF on the above. It will bring together leading scientists and experts involved in preparing national reports or related sustainable development assessments, in order to ensure their research findings and analytical perspectives will be featured in the Global Sustainable Development Report. The modality of future collaboration among the experts will be discussed during the meeting. The EGM will be conducted in English.
