The Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Roadmaps in Africa project, initiated in 2022 by the Directorate General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission aims to enhance the directionality and effectiveness of STI policies in contributing to the SDGs. Aligned with the European Union's priorities for STI cooperation with Africa, the project seeks to strengthen STI capacities and policies, fostering more inclusive and sustainable societies across the continent.
The side event, held in the context of the tenth annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum), will highlight the European Commission's initiative, to develop STI for SDGs roadmaps in Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative exemplifies the European Union's commitment to fostering sustainable development through strategic STI investments and partnerships with African countries, specifically focusing on The Gambia, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, and Seychelles.
