Progress on achieving SDG 6

In 2019, there was 100% rate of service of drinking water in urban areas and 94.5% in rural areas.

The connection rate to the public sanitation network in cities was 95% in 2014 and 90.5% in 2020.

The connection rate to the public sanitation network for the entire territory of Tunisia was 62.7% in 2018 and 63% in 2020.

Water stress in 2017 was 121.1%., a rate that coincided with the three years of drought (2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018).

While water stress in 2019 fell to 109.8%, with a slight improvement compared to the last three years due to the improvement in intake and the management method adopted for the irrigated sector at the level of the three major hydraulic systems.
