Progress on achieving SDG 6

2020 Voluntary National Review

Costa Rica reported some progress in the targets related to SDG 6, with the percentage of the population supplied with intra-household water from an aqueduct reaching 94% of the total population in 2018. There has also been an increase in the percentage of the population living in dwellings with a toilet connected to sewers or septic tanks, reaching 98% of the total population in 2018.  Costa Rica is promoting their Comprehensive Water Supply Program for Guanacaste (PIAAG), in line with the CR National Regional Drinking Water Policy 2017 – 2030. This Program is a priority tool for increasing access to drinking water protection and the protection of water resources.
