    Description
    Description
WakaWaka is a social enterprise producing highly efficient solar LED lights and mobile phone chargers.

In the first three years in business, WakaWaka was able to distribute over 160,000 WakaWakas in developing countries. In 2015 the organization expects to donate 100,000 WakaWaka Lights, enabling just as many families to carry on their daily life and stay safe at night. WakaWaka has also launched a revolutionary business model in 2014 called 'The WakaWaka Virtual Grid' in Rwanda.
    Implementation of the Project/Activity

The organization employs a range of different cooperative models to reach those at the bottom of the social pyramid with clean energy. For every WakaWaka sold in the West, the organization has donated one to a family affected by a humanitarian crisis. As far as 'The WakaWaka Virtual Grid' is concerned, WakaWaka works with a lease-to-own model . With this model, clients can use the WakaWaka after adding credit with a scratch-card and mobile phone. The organization is planning for a large scale roll out at the end of 2015, reaching 100,000 households with the WakaWaka Power.
