VISION 20/30 - Partnership for Island Economies

    An international outreach initiative will be launched to raise support for participating small island economies to enable some to transform their economies to renewables by 2020, and for all by 2030.
    Implementation of the Project/Activity

    Climate Institute will continue its ongoing program of 12 years, the Global Sustainable Energy Islands Initiative, which with the new title - VISION 20/30 will provide in kind support and staff to keep this initiative active up to 2020.

    By 2030, expand infrastructure and upgrade technology for supplying modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries, in particular least developed countries, small island developing States, and land-locked developing countries, in accordance with their respective programmes of support

    Installed renewable energy-generating capacity in developing and developed countries (in watts per capita)

    To support all the 43 Small Island Developing States in achieving universal energy access, transformation of their energy economies and achieving energy independence to the extent that is feasible.To help build partnerships of donors, private sector and UN implementing agencies that would work with at least 12 pilot small island economies in developing and implementing their ambitious sustainable energy plans.
