The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (2nd SE4All Forum Commitments)

    Description
    Description
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) member States adopted an Asia-Pacific regional cooperation framework to promote the enhancement of energy security and the sustainable use of energy at an intergovernmental platform - the Asian and Pacific Energy Forum (APEF) - in Vladivostok, Russian Federation in May 2013.

In support of the decisions made by Ministers at APEF and endorsed by all ESCAP member States, ESCAP established a mechanism including annual Policy Dialogue, the APEF Energy Data & Policy Information Portal, and the annual Regional Trends Report on Energy for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific to support member States on the implementation of outcomes of APEF. This mechanism will also contribute to achieve SE4ALL objectives including through a Pacific Regional Data Repository on SE4ALL.

Together with the ADB and UNDP, ESCAP supports the Regional Hub on SE4ALL, which provides a knowledge platform for all stakeholders on the implementation of SE4All at regional level. ESCAP is also committed to develop a cooperation framework on regional energy connectivity through the Asian Energy Highway initiative for regional economic integration for a cleaner, more efficient, equitable, and secure energy future.
