    Description
    Description
On 27 June 2019 the UK amended its climate change target, to end its contribution to global warming by 2050. The new target will require the UK to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 and is enshrined in law under the Climate Change Act 2008. The UK has made world-leading progress to date: since 1990 we have reduced our emissions by over 40% while growing the economy by more than two thirds. A net zero target requires us to build on this progress by transforming our economy – our homes, our transport, our businesses, and how we generate and use energy. We will deliver this target by building on the strong frameworks of the Clean Growth Strategy and Industrial Strategy. Our Clean Growth Strategy can be accessed at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/clean-growth-strategy
