    Description
    Intro

    SDGs school is a regular monthly program of SDGs Studio with the motive to bring youths in common platform who eager to learn more detail in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), need of SDGs, and act on SDGs. This school aims to provide the information and knowledge about the SDGs, youths engagement and internalizing the youths in SDGs localization. Every month, only 17 participants for every 17 goals are called for participation in the SDGs School. They will be engaged and internalized on the basis of their performance, creativeness, and innovative ideas in each 17 different Sustainable Development Goals.

    Objective of the practice

    The goal of SDGs School is to create a common platform to act on SDGs.The main objectives of SDGs School are as follows: <br />
    • to provide the information and knowledge about the SDGs, youths engagement and internalizing the youths in SDGs localization <br />
    • to internalize the SDGs in daily life and act on SDGs<br />
    • to localize the SDGs through youth mobilization <br />
    • to empower youths to know their responsibilities, leadership building, planning, implementation and approaching the local budget to achieve SDGs <br />
    • to draw the attention of youths on the local government which helps for making the local government responsible towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

    The school started with an icebreaking introduction with 17 youth participants for each SDGs goal. For the first day, Ms. Bhawana Bhatta facilitated the first day of the school. She taught about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from global context to Nepalese context and what SDGs mean to you.
    The first activity “Know your own goal” helps those enthusiastic youth to realize their daily activities and connecting these activities in their SDGs goals. After finding their own goal, they become able to give justification/clarification in choosing their own goal.

    In the second day of school, the session of Mr. Dipesh Ghimire started after the reflection of first day activities. He shared his knowledge and experience about why SDGs for you with outdoor activities. The session on MDGs Vs. SDGs became very interesting to know the global agendas with the commitment of 193 countries to achieve the goal by 2030. The third day of school started with the reflection of the second day and an energizer on SDGs from Mr. Niraj Neupane. He taught about the subjective matters of link linking with SDGs and also shared some points need to be considered before planning the projects. After that, the participants were distributed into four groups to carry out certain projects that helped in achieving sustainable development goals. It enhanced teamwork and co-working skills among the participants.
    Monitoring the performance of the participants in the school. After presenting the innovative ideas, continuously monitoring the initial approach and strategy of each participant. Regular monitoring on the implemented program after the finalization of the concept paper from the series. Every activity and the performance of the participants are carefully recorded. The recording will support us to announce the “SDGs Hero of the Year” and award the relevant ideas. The steps of monitoring and evaluation are as follows:
    1. Observation of the activities of the participants in the communities and social media networks
    2. Field study and stories collecting
    3. Preparing the Checklist of performance
    4. Survey and interaction of the implemented project in the community
    5. Follow up

    Results/Outputs/Impacts
    Output:
    ➢ Participants learned Sustainable Development Goals in depth. ➢ They came to know their own interesting goals, internalize SDGs in their own daily life. ➢ Participants were divided into three groups and designed an action plan for their further engagement.

    Success Stories:
    1. SDGs Walk (Global Goals)
    This initiation is leading by Mr. Anish Bhurtyl, first batch SDGs School graduate. He has just completed his secondary education from St. Xavier College. He has already organized SDGs Walk in Dhulikhel, Lalitpur, and Budhanilkantha. Now, he is planning to go for more 7 destinations.

    Detail about SDGs WALK:
    SDGs Walk is a bachelor level youth moment with the motive to spread awareness on SDGs. It is an event primarily based on the idea of simplifying the massive agendas of different sustainable goals and familiarizing people regarding the same.
    SDGs Walk is designed with the pure intention to grabs the attention of the public and sharing the information regarding SDGs. It is scheduled to be organized as an information stall. There will be 17 youths for every 17 SDGs goals and they appeared with SDGs printed Caps and T-shirts in each SDGs goals.
    Those 17 SDGians get together at the common place where there is the flow of people at the surroundings (e.g. Basantapur, Durbar Sqr., Thamel) Those SDGians will line up in chairs and desks and started interacting with each other. At the same time, they started SDGs musical performance. Also, they will explain about SDGs who wants to know the performanc.

    2. HerPad- SDGs Goal no.3: Good health and well being
    This initiation has been leading by Ms. Promish Mishra, Mr. Sagar Paudel, and Ms. Samjhana Shah, 3rd batch SDGs School graduate. The major objective of HerPad is to provide training to make re-usable pad making and menstrual hygiene. Initially, the team provides re-usable pad making training to the women of central jail, Kathmandu. After the successful accomplishment of first training, the team was again called to the jail to provide similar training to the next group.

    3. It's my first period- SDGs Goal no. 3: Good health and well-being
    This initiation has been leading by Ms. Dipisha Bhujel, 4th batch SDGs School graduate. She has currently joined the MBBS preparation course. She has been individually leading her own action plan "It's my first period". The objective of It's my first period is to share the information, knowledge and stories of menstruation period and hygiene. She initiated this work through Facebook.

    Enabling factors and constraints
    Youth Engagement in SDGs School:
    We are calling only 17 participants for every 17 goals for the SDGs School every month. There will be new participants for each next monthly series. We are approaching participants to make a proper concept paper of any relevant ideas on their own SDGs Goals. In the third day of the monthly series, 17 participants got an opportunity to present the concept paper of their innovative ideas. After that, we are engaging youths on the basis of their innovative ideas and plan in SDGs.

    1. Youth Participants Selection:
    Among total applicants, only 17 participants for each SDGs goal are selected. In every month, applicants are selected on the basis of interest, passion, willingness, and commitment. Within 3 days of SDGs school, they came to know the internalization of SDGs in their own life. They are supposed to make 4 groups among 17 participants. They do group work and make a concrete plan of 3 months after identifying their own passionate SDGs goal. After that, they are ready to execute their work plan.

    2. Graduation and certificate:
    Within 3 months of duration, the groups are supposed to implement their concept paper into the real working field. Under the supervision of SDGs Studio, the groups will be performed their best to make the change in the society. They are supposed to do the project work on the basis of need-based, people and place. At the end of the 3 months of the implementation of group work, they will be certified and graduated from the National Youth Council.

    SDGs Champions:
    After having the SDGs Master Training, we will be able to mobilize the SDGs Champions for a year. Those 17 SDGs Champions will be engaged for a year in their own innovative ideas, creation and many others. The SDGians stories and activities will be broadcast through SDGs Studio’s YouTube channel, page, and SDG Talk program through the national television News24, every Thursday 6:25 pm to 7:00 pm.
    SDGs Hero of the Year:
    Altogether 204 applicants will be certified and graduated from the SDGs School.

    Conclusions

    The SDGs school helps to know the SDGs goals linking with daily life activities. The school become the appropriate platform to the young, energetic and passionate youths to act on SDGs. In the end, we came to conclusion to implement the pitched project ideas of the group. The session went very fruitful and effective with constructive youth engagement in the group discussion, planning, and interaction. The program was concluded with the keynotes of SDGs focal person in achieving SDGs.
