Description
There are many women in business sector who are managing their businesses from home in rural areas. These women are the ones who design and make handicraft, produce jams, pickles, dairy, and etc by facing many obstacles. These are the angels who strive to make a decent living for their families despite having less income and facing several traditional challenges in Afghanistan. We aimed to enable maximum 25 rural and women entrepreneurs to take advantage of market opportunities as they face lack of information, strategy, planning, and most important HOW TO SELL?
Our project activities included below phases and topics: 1- Our business identity (Training) 2- Business Canvas Model (Workshop) 3- How to Sell (Training) 4- Business and Social Media (Training) 5- Our Business Hub (Workshop) 6- Business Plan (Training) 7- Product packaging (Training) 8- Exhibition
We have been following and consulting them actively about their development in regard to their businesses. So far there has been dramatic changes in their product quality and quantity. Now, most of them are having online sells, which is quite new for them and a transformation from local level to national level. We have connected some of them to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Women Chamber of Commerce to be included in capacity building projects for further development. Their movement has motivated their peers to shift their traditional way to a modern way by using technology as marketing tool. We are optimistic about their contribution on creating more jobs and boosting local businesses.
Technology and social media were two new contexts that they got familiar with. Through workshop and trainings we showcases how this woks and how it an be effective in their products' sell. We allocated to each business social media 80 USD Facebook/Instagram sponsorship package, 1000 free brochure design and printing.
Sustainability is oftentimes difficult to qualify over such a short period of time and activities. VNDO will become the bridge that makes possible an opportunity for women owned small businesses to acquire the most up to date business strategies in a localized concept without any material interests, but for a better, civilized and empowered society in Afghanistan. We are still working on running this project second season for 2021, and optimistic to get funding from our partners.
