    Description
    Description

We have adopted Goal 12 'Responsible consumption and production' as a school and organisational goal to instil awareness among students and undertake actionable projects at the school and community level.
This entails a series of ongoing projects for students of different grade levels towards this goal.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

Grade-wise projects have been undertaken. This includes:
    - Upcycling old plastic bottles into 'Ecobricks', which are donated to an organisation that uses these ecobricks to construct roads and make furniture.
    - Making handmade paper: Old waste paper collected in schools is used by students to make handmade paper using simple technology. This is used by students for note-taking and some of it is donated to poor students in the community.
    - Thrift fashion: Students collect older clothes and repurpose them. These clothes are then donated to poor people in need or sold in a fashion statement.
    - Community awareness: Students visit underpriviliged children through a foundation, Akanksha, where they conduct literacy programs based on SDGs.
    - Beach cleanups: Students visit the local beaches in Mumbai on Saturdays to participate in cleanup drives.
    - Batti Bandh: Students organise 'Earth Hour' in school and their societies at regular intervals as a means to conserve electricity.
    - Newsletter: Students write a monthly column in the school newsletter to keep the talk about SDGs going.

    Coordination mechanisms

The Green Cell is a group of teachers who lead the sustainability project at the school (ABWA). They work closely with the Green Club, a student-driven club with members from all Middle School and Senior School grades. This club is led by the 'Dustbuster' the leading student council member who looks after green initiatives of the school.
The Cell and Club utilise home room time in class to orient the larger student body with SDGs, and take up ongoing projects related to responsible consumption and production.

    Evaluation

The school has been undertaking several green initiatives, but this is our first year looking at these through the lens of SDGs. We hope to provide students a platform and motivate them to use their innovation and technology to action SDGs in the community.
