    Description
    Objetivo: Promover la conservacin, uso sostenible y distribucin justa y equitativa de los beneficios que se derivan de los ecosistemas marinos productivos y una mayor resistencia en los grupos vulnerables, mediante un programa interinstitucional de proteccin de los recursos marinos y costeros de manera participativa.

    Adems, en este marco, se pretende dotar al pas de un sistema de tecnologa de punta que incluye radares y dispositivos de deteccin de Sistemas de Identificacin Automtica (AIS) y Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) para contribuir con el seguimiento y monitoreo de las actividades que tienen efectos sobre la conservacin, aprovechamiento de los recursos y espacios marinos de Costa Rica, controles sobre actividades como la pesca ilegal, el narcotrfico y, ms recientemente, el trfico de personas.

    Adicionalmente, se elaboraron instrumentos de planificacin y evaluacin del grado de efectividad de la vigilancia que complementa el abordaje tecnolgico y las instancias locales de conservacin participativa.
