Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PCCR)

    Description
    Description
The Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PCCR) is the bi-annual premium climate change coordination mechanism for the Pacific which was established to coordinate and facilitate climate change dialogue and networking in the region. PCCR also facilitate linking global and regional stakeholders with the national and community levels. The PCCR coordination role supports the monitoring and reporting on progress made in the Pacific Islands Framework for Action on Climate Change (PIFACC) as well as supporting regional organisations’ coordination in support of Pacific Islands Countries and Territories (PICTs) climate change priorities for actions linked to national development agendas. The PCCR is led by a steering committee approved by the previous PCCR for the following two years.
    Implementation of the Project/Activity

The PCCR feeds in to the regional preparatory processes for climate change policy in the region, in particular the Pacific Islands Forum, the SPREP Annual Meeting and the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC. It is expected that the PCCR will make specific recommendations on capacity (human, financial and institutional) constraints. Inadequacies in policy making, assessment and enforcement mechanisms, lack of public awareness and understanding are some of the shared concerns affecting national and regional climate change response strategies. The PCCR works through the five major themes that are allocated to working groups: 1. Adaptation WG 2. Mitigation WG 3. Knowledge Management WG 4. Resources WG 5. Loss and Damage WG (established at 2013 PCCR)
