MUN for India - Using Model UN for SDGs Education & Action

    Description
    Description
Worldview through its initiative called 'MUN for India' (MFI) is working on educating students in India about the SDGs and encouraging them to take action. MFI includes a series of simulations of the UN hosted in schools across India with participation from students in the 12-17 age bracket. As part of these simulations, students role-play as diplomats of various countries and engage in debates & discussions to find globally acceptable solutions to overcome challenges to achieve the SDGs. Participation in all MFI simulations is subsidised for students who commit to & take positive action on one of the SDGs.
    Expected Impact

Curriculum - To ensure students engage in debates & discussions to find solutions to challenges to SDGs implementation. The curriculum is developed by Worldview along with our Knowledge Partner- Georgetown International Relations Association, a student body at Georgetown University

Registration of students - The simulations are promoted through social media campaigns on Worldview's digital marketing channels and through its 300+ school partners in India. Students sign up after submitting their commitment/action around one of the SDGs. Students then gain access to the simulation.

Leadership Forum - Various experts from NGO's, Think-Tanks, Organisations that are working on the SDGs are invited to the simulations to speak to the students about the work they are doing. This is aimed at giving the young school students a better understanding of what various stakeholders are doing for SDGs achievement and to inspire the students to take action.

Administration - The administration of the simulations is carried out by Worldview staff along with support from the various partner host schools.

    Capacity

Teacher Training - Each MFI simulation has a module dedicated to Teacher Training. As part of this module, Teacher's are given a low down on how they can use Model UN to educate their students about the SDGs and on the initiatives they can carry out within their schools to drive action.

Online Learning Platform - An online learning platform is being developed by Worldview to help students understand the SDGs and learn about how they can build their own capacities using Model UN to take positive action.

    Governed

MFI is an initiative that is managed and delivered by Worldview Education. Our staff members work with educators & administrators of schools to plan and organise the initiative in different cities and towns. Students are not required to pay any fees for participation if they take positive action around any one of the SDGs. Part of the logistical costs of hosting these simulations are covered by each of our partner host schools. The administration costs, promotion costs, staff salaries, logistics are all covered by Worldview along some contributions from our supporters such as Coca-Cola India. All budgets & accounts of the initiative, progress & growth are reviewed on a quarterly basis by the Board of Directors of Worldview Education Services Private Limited.
