Description
LocalSDG - Municipal Sustainable Development Goals monitoring platform - aims to trigger a broad and open local sustainability movement, with strong multiplier effects, not only to bring the local actors and their initiatives to the spotlight, but also to promote the creation of an extensive and committed community of agents of change. This initiative assumes a critical importance in this post-pandemic context, where new challenges and requirements emerge.
The LocalSDG Platform embodies a dynamic technology-based online portal, which allows the visualization and monitoring of the progress and contributions of each municipality in relation to the various SDGs.
The LocalSDG Platform is impacting mainly at three levels:
1. INFORM – Municipal Portal: i) dedicated and annually updated information on the indicators of each one of the 17 SDGs; ii) georeferenced mapping of existing sustainability projects and good practices in the municipality carried out by local authorities and other local agents and institutions; iii) availability of a private and autonomous area for the management and systematization of information with export features and ready for the preparation of informative summaries.
2. EMPOWER - Training programme for local sustainability agents, involving mayors, technicians, and key actors of the municipalities, with the objective of creating a national network of trainers on SDGs and the Agenda 2030 at the local scale. This programme aims to implement a set of Dynamic Laboratories, ensuring responsible involvement by the various actors and encouraging partnerships for the construction of sustainability networks
3. DISSEMINATE - Communication and dissemination strategy on a national scale that will value and project the sustainable practices and progress of each municipality. This strategy integrates an annual national conference and the attribution of LocalSDG Awards, to distinguish SDGs Projects, Practices and Partnerships, and LocalSDG Seals, to award municipalities that show top performance or positive dynamics.
