Innovation 4 Change
Description
The key aims of this project are:
1.Promote an entrepreneurial spirit among young talents
2.Train them to provide them skills that would solve the global challenges
3.Propose innovative solutions in a short time which can then be scaled
4.Support and provide resources to the best ideas
The initiative will run each year, for a period of 5 months. This will include trainings and workshops, and constant support from experienced mentors to research about the problem, create a vision, prototype the idea and finally a plan to implement it.
The interdisciplinary team, brings together both scientific and economic expertise necessary to make an idea fully functional and deployable
The training will be both in Turin, Italy and Geneva, Switzerland. The key steps to be followed are:
1. (Preparation) February: The participants will be trained in the basics of innovation, the teams will be formed and the challenges selected. Each of the challenge will directly play a role in solving one of the 17 UN SDGs.
2. (Ideation) March: The vision will be created around the challenge given and the project solution will be ideated.
3. (Validation) April: The participants will study the market, the impact of their solution and will be trained to form a sustainable business model around their solution.
4. (Execution) May: The primitive solution will be tested in the Turin Makers Faire, and then the solution will be perfected through the first feedback received. Several courses of fast prototyping will also be held.
5. (Presentation) June: The presentation of the final solutions will take place after a thorough training of pitching and branding.
One of the main pillars of the Innovation for Change program is to build entrepreneurial capacity to solve global challenges. Within the five months of the program, not only will they learn to focus on a specific aspect of a large problem, but also provide a solution for it. The trainers and the mentors will provide extensive training and support to the participants. The solution will be built around technology, and the group developing the project will be entirely the owner of its technology, in case they develop it themselves from scratch. The participants are free to use the technology of the stakeholders, in which case each project will be dealt by the corresponding technology transfer group on a case-by-case basis.
The project is a joint venture between CDI Italia, Politecnico di Torino and CERN Idea Square. CDI Italia selects around 34 students from its flagship MBA program and Politecnico di Torino selects 16 PhD students to participate in this program. The 50 participants are hosted for a week in March and another in May at CERN Idea Square, for training and ideation.
The project is financed by sponsor Company that will act as challenge owner.
During the 5 months, the following services will be provided by the above partners according to this scheme:
• Coordination of the project: CDI ITALIA
• Education: CDI Italia, Politecnico di Torino
• Mentorship: CDI Italia, Politecnico di Torino, CERN Idea Squre and sponsor Company
• Technology Access: Politecnico di Torino and CERN Idea Square
