Government of Finland (2nd SE4All Forum Commitments)

    Description
    Description
Constrained by limited natural resources for energy generation, a dispersed population and a harsh Nordic climate, Finland has been devoted a particular attention to the identification of energy smart solutions. These solutions have been also well- placed to address energy efficiency and access issues in developing countries, as well as using domestic bio energy resources.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

The Energy & Environment Partnership programmes have supported hundreds of innovative businesses in improving sustainable energy services and in creating green jobs in developing countries. The next programme will be launched in Myanmar in early June. Households and business companies in Dar es Salaam will benefit from more reliable electricity through a recent grid modernization project. Finnish concessional loans have facilitated the electrification of more than a thousand rural health and educational facilities in Sri Lanka, have supported rural electrification in Ghana and Vietnam as well as built transmission lines in Kenya. Kenya will also be home to the largest wind park in Sub-Saharan Africa, partially funded by Finnfund.
