Description
The proposed action is finalized to the realization of three parks in the context of the Decima Malafede Nature Reserve in Rome, in order to turn it from a nonenjoyable area to an accessible, safe and inclusive green space, destined to all the population in the area, open to people of any sex, age, and persons with disabilities.
The area of intervention is a portion of the South-Eastern quadrant, just outside the city
of Rome, within a territory characterized by intensely built areas located in an intensive
agricultural landscape and by large parts of Agro Romano of huge environmental and
naturalistic value.
The “Social Green Masterplan”, a series of actions planned by Campus Bio-Medico SpA,
aims to model this part of the landscape, re-shaping it in a new form, through actions of
conservation and enhancement of the existing and through the introduction of new
elements, functions and services. The keywords to build a naturalistic and equipped
green space become: connection, re-invention and regeneration.
In the Context of the Social Green Masterplan, the initiative proposed is the realization of
the “Campus Bio-Medico University Park”, an aggregation of multiple parks with different
vocations:
- “Park of Spirituality”: a Naturalistic, geologic park, where Nature reconciles and nourishes the spirit. A park dedicated to the search for contact with oneself through the contact with nature. It is an area of completely naturalistic imprint, the usable area consists of different habitats in which interactive educational paths of an ecological-environmental nature are developed.
- “Park of Movement”, meant as physical, mental and sensorial movement. Physical: with spaces where it’s possible to practice outdoor sports, rehabilitation, vegetable therapy, with a playground for children. The landscape preserves a naturalistic component and a more ornamental component; accommodation and service facilities will be appropriately placed. Mental: a place designed for exhibitions of contemporary art, poetry, theater of religious and exhibition paths immersed in nature. It is an area of naturalistic recreational imprint, made of woods, wooded strips, clearings and meadows, with facilities and services. Sensorial: in which places are organized for listening to nature, music and words. It is an area surrounded by nature with sensory paths, an amphitheater for concerts, conferences or shows and service facilities.
- “Sociality Park”: where citizens can spend free time immersed in a natural context, respectful of the environment and sustainable, equipped with games for children, picnic areas, BBQ areas, where you can also buy excellent zero miles products.
The whole project will be conducted by Campus Bio-Medico SpA that will be the entity responsible for the selection of the suppliers that will directly implement the project from the initial design stage to its complete execution.
Campus Bio-Medico SpA (also named “CBM” hereafter) is the organization set up to
promote the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, to establish the Teaching Hospital. It’s also the company which owns the buildings occupied by the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital and the land on which the university campus stands. CBM ensures the pursuit of the University’s institutional objectives and is engaged in developing new projects to further its growth, by offering the support of its managerial and entrepreneurial resources. Company shareholders comprise non-profit organizations, business people and private or institutional investors.
The project fields in which CBM will have a role are mainly related to the management of protected areas, to the dialogue between rural and urban areas and to Education/Training.
Campus Bio-Medico owns and manages a real estate complex whose buildings amount, as November 2022, to an overall surface area of 90,000 sq m, including the Campus BioMedico University Hospital with its 400 beds, and 90 hectares of land, part of which is in the Decima Malafede Nature Reserve in Rome.
The entrepreneurial competencies are therefore strictly related to the launch and management from scratch of a whole Private University institution, with a common-good and service-oriented vision, constantly evolving in a context with a close interaction with the rural context of the Decima Malafede Nature Reserve and the metropolitan context of Rome.
The Stakeholders of the initiative are: RomaNatura, Università Campus BioMedico, Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico
