The Boutros Boutros-Ghali Chair for Sustainable Peace

    Description
    Description
The Boutros Boutros-Ghali Chair for Sustainable Peace (كرسي بطرس بطرس غالي للسلام المستدام in Arabic) established in February 2019 as a commemoration of the legacy of Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the sixth Secretary-General of the United Nations. The Chair shall contribute to the objective of making the invaluable and universal principles of the U.N. function more effectively to establish the building blocks of sustainable peace.
    Implementation of the Project/Activity

We already wrote the child-friendly text of the U.N. and we are designing a child-friendly platform to be fully accessed all over the world.

    Capacity

The Chair's initiative will offer a platform for our young people to know the living legacy of Boutros Boutros-Ghali that allows peace to find a path to pass through. It is an opportunity to help people pay attention to the genuine system of the U.N., get involved, take responsible action, and unite to help the U.N. in its mission to bring peace as well as make people recovering their human dignity.

    Governed

The Child-Friendly Human Rights E-Library “My Right… My Life” As the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) approaches its 71st Anniversary, only a small percentage of the population worldwide know of its existence, others have no idea, particularly in the Arab world.

Today, the U.N. reports that more than a billion people are without clean water; most of the 25 million who have HIV/AIDS in Africa have no access to health care, and 121 million children are denied a basic education. Moreover, UNICEF reports that more female fetuses are being aborted in India; human trafficking is on the rise in China's cities, and so girls are being kidnapped in broad daylight. Furthermore, the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) reported that, worldwide, some 60 million girls enter into marriage before their 18th birthday, which compromises their human rights, health, education, and economic futures. Viewing these statistics, who could disagree that actions must be taken now to make human rights known, understood, and most importantly, put into practice?

Who could disagree that such actions must be taken now to make the United Nations human rights core instruments known to young people all over the world?! With this recognition in mind, also as a part of our commitment to commemorate the 75 anniversary of the U.N, the Chair launching the child-friendly human rights e-library; My Right... My Life.

This way young people will know what governments have promised to do to make sure that every one of us has what we need to grow, play, participate go to school, and reach his/her full potential as others. It is an opportunity to help people pay attention, get involved, take creative action, and unite to help young people in their communities and all over the world.
