At Bliss Lau we created a voluntary transparency review in 2018 for all of our vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers. This entails a deep dive into the ethics and vision of these partner companies, requests for pledges moving towards the UN SDG’s, evidence requests for authenticity of claims and in person visits or photographic proof.
At Bliss Lau we communicate our vision through in person meetings, speaking engagements, social media, and in our New York City design studio. In addition our founder Bliss Lau consistently guest appears on podcasts speaking of the importance of ethical sourcing and operations to further expand the message.

Bliss has recently spoken at the FIT Sustainable Design Conference, and sat on a panel at the Initiatives in Art and Culture Gold and Diamond conference to discuss the importance of intellectual property. At Bliss Lau we believe in operating with kindness, environmental stewardship and supporting livelihoods through intentional design choices.
We are proud to claim that multiple busiensses who were operating with opacity that we requested further provenance information and transparency have since taken measures to train employees, and gain knowledge of their supply chains. We have activated the use of fairmined gold in the first ever Asian facility, and continue to advocate for the importance of mercury safe and free mining.
We work with PACT, https://www.pactworld.org/ on the Moyo Gem initiative https://moyogems.com/, the in-country organization in Tanzania who is partnered with this project is TAWOMA, Tanzanian Woman's Mining Organization. We also work with ARM, www.responsiblemines.org Alliance for Responsible Mining on the Fairmined Gold initiative.

This work is not limited to any individual, but rather a slow growth towards the important change that is needed to support environmental stewardship and work towards ending the rampant use of mercury in Artisanal Small Scale Mining. Further expanding the knowledge of the average consumer to the potential of their participation in these practices through purchasing gold jewelry from companies that do not explicitly focus on supporting mercury free or recycled gold. A movement to transform the standard of opacity in the jewelry space will benefit us all as women. Women are the most affected by mercury in our food, ocean and beyond. It impacts our reproductive capabilities, children, cognition, and longevity.
