Ms. Jaeger, Jill
Independent Researcher, (Sustainable Europe Research Institute)
Ms. Jaeger is a former deputy director of IIASA, an international institutional of Academies of Sciences of countries in Europe, North America and Asia. She has been one of the most influential promoters of European sustainability science since the 1990s. Her work has shaped the approach of the European Commission and many European countries over the past decades. She represents the view that scientists are only one type of stakeholder in sustainable development assessments. Her views show an avenue for how to bring together the dominant developed countries' perspective (e.g., focus on IPCC-style model) and the developed countries concerns (e.g., their insistence of including many types of knowledge beyond the peer-reviewed knowledge, and the need for national ownership of the process).
