Major Group: NGOs
Statement by the Partnership
“Rights of Nature: Integrating Nature in the Implemention of all SDGs
Topic Science policy Interface: New ideas, insights and solutions
• Science has tended to be elitist and ignores the inputs of both other parts of the natural system and the beneficial insights of the common person. For instance, though farmers and other naturalists should be our leaders in communicating with Nature, they have not been included by the scientific community. A loss to not only them, but especially to all the people and nature and the success of our 2030 Agenda.
• The problems the SDGs are attempting to remedy are for a part due to miscommunication between the deterministic thinking of science and the holistic design of natural systems. These are characterized by a process of constant interaction of which human beings are integral parts.
• Therefore, more people should be encouraged to become experts. How?
o One, all people need to be equipped to communicate with the Earth System. This can be achieved through the implementation of Art. 26(2) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that calls for the full development of the human personality.
o Two, we as NGOs and Major Groups are THE channel between the Scientific experts in governments and the UN, and people at the grassroots. Use us.
o Three, Universal access to the internet would help to communicate their expertise and innovations.
o Scientific language and methods of implementation must be simplefied to encourage participation of grassroots.
o Innovation will further be aided through active participation in the Global Innovations Exchange Platform.
o The benefit from a holistic science approach must seep down to all people. This can be achieved through a vertical structure, that connects the global, regional, national, and local levels.
• The GSDR does not adequately represent the environmental dimension. We call for it to be better mainstreamed in this Report
• A simple prescribed method of Scientific processes made easy into pragramatic actionabe Plans is HETAVAD which could be found online at http://www.amazon.com/author/amosobi.. HETAVAD skills could be used to transformed and Empowerment both the old and Young towards Holistic income opportunities.
