Iceland, Liechtenstein and New Zealand
SDG OWG 11
Feedback on Focus Area 7 – Energy: New Zealand, Liechtenstein and Iceland.
New Zealand, Liechtenstein and Iceland support a goal which would ensure sustainable energy for all and propose a minor amendment to the way in which such a goal is currently articulated:
Ensure access to affordable, sustainable and reliable energy for all.
We endorse the five targets which have been proposed under Focus area 7.
We propose an additional target to ensure that gender equality and women’s empowerment are integrated into this goal and the energy needs of vulnerable people are addressed.
f) By 2030, ensure that energy policies, governance and decision-making, and the planning, supply and management of sustainable energy solutions involve women in decision-making roles and respond to the needs of women and men, boys and girls, indigenous peoples, the aged and people living with disabilities.
