10) Angola
The Central African region houses the Congo Basin Rainforests Africa Richest Biodiversity, the region prone to wars and regional violence, the region targeted for its natural resources by multi stakeholders and businesses, Clearance of the Forests for Biofuel , the region with increased corruption and democratic challenges, the region facing increasing outward migration and refugees challenges.
In brief, Our organization is in Special Consultative Status to the United Nations Economic and
Social Council and accredited to many other UN Agencies including, UNEP, UNCCD, CBD,
UNDOC, UNCAC, WIPO, UN DPI.
Our Organization is initiating a dialogue among CSOs in the Central African Region on strong
partnerships among civil society organizations and to facilitate a better way to effectively implement the sustainable development goals the Post 2015 development Agenda of the United Nations.
The ongoing negotiations on the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires a
strong contribution from a regional perspective as far as CSOs are concerned in the Central African Region especially in the realization of the three Rio- Conventions; Convention to Combat Desertification
www.unccd.int, Convention on Biological Diversity www.cbd.int and the Convention on Climate
Change www.unfccc.int
Considering the fact that our governments have recognised that CSOs are critical players in the
working of these Protocols and Conventions at the national and regional levels, taking into cognisance the Congo Basin Rainforests which is heavily threatened for its resources, the forests, the Wildlife, in North Cameroon and the Central Africa Republic, the Lake Chad shrinking, the gradual but steady encroachment of desert down south and the Food Security and Security challenges the region is facing, The difficulty for the Civil
Society for themselves to mobilise financial resources to carry on their work, the inability to get support from our governments, it is but obvious we step up a joint regional, concrete approach on the Means of Implementation (MoI) of the post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals agenda in the region on Implementation the Sustainable Development Goals.
We intend to bring all CSO from each country including students/researchers
who will make valuable contributions that would bring the region attention on a stronger platform and exposure to stakeholders and funders who could mobilise and raise financial resources for the CSO to run their activities and implement the sustainable development goals effectively.
The CSOs Coalition will also bring some opportunities for open investment and for businesses
that would contribute in alleviating the pressing issues in the region like jobs, unemployment,
Migration, Food Security and Poverty.
Expectation:
A stronger platform be achieved for the region in meeting the needs of the CSOs directly on financing for Development in the Region on the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Agenda.
