Cyprus, Singapore and United Arab Emirates

Thank you Mr. Co-Chair for giving me the floor I have the honour of speaking on behalf of the troika of Cyprus, Singapore and the UAE

On Focus area 11. Sustainable Consumption and Production

• The Troika would like to stress the importance of sustainable consumption and production (SCP). We support a standalone goal as well as mainstreaming of SCP in relevant goals and targets.

• Also, as expressed in our statement in relation to focus area 9, some of the action points from focus area 9 should be moved to focus area 11.

• However, we are also of the view that many of action points in this focus area are undefined or unmeasurable and require further work.

• We note that (a) overlaps with focus areas 13 and 14 and should be addressed as appropriate in those focus areas, but we also would like to note that more specific, actionable targets would be required.

• As expressed in our statement on focus area 9, we are of the view that 11(b) and 11(c) are addressed by 9(e) and 9(g) with proposed amendments, and should be placed in focus area 11.

Focus area 12. Climate change

Take urgent and significant action to mitigate and adapt to climate change

• As stated in our general remarks, the Troika does not support a standalone goal on climate change, although we would like to reiterate our position that climate change is of critical importance and all efforts must be made to address its multidimensional impacts. Therefore, climate change should be mainstreamed in all goals and targets.
