INTERVENTION BY BHUTAN-THAILAND-VIETNAM TROIKA
ON SCP

1. Few points on behalf of Troika and as you have asked us, we will focus our remarks on targets. We of, course, align our remarks with the statement by made by Bolivia on behalf of G77&China and also support the Statement made Paraguay for LLDCs.
2. On SCP, target a – while have no problems with it, it is broad and aspirational and could be refined to: By 2020, Governments, business and stakeholders have adopted policies and principles on sustainable production and consumption – along similar lines as that of Aichi Target 4.
3. On Target g: that talks of incorporating sustainable development principles by financial sectors - instead of singling out financial sectors, it could be broadened to include all private sectors.
4. On Target h: create incentives for sustainable tourism – could be reworded to Promote sustainable tourism.
5. With regard to MoI, we would like to give importance to:
a. Support the increase of official development assistance (ODA) and foreign direct investment (FDI) to support the productive capacities and the acquisition of technologies for sustainable production in developing countries, particularly countries in special situations.
b. Providing support to developing countries, particularly countries in special situations, through financial and technical assistance and capacity building to implement plans and programmes geared towards SCP.
