[Statement delivered by Bangladesh on behalf of Cameroon, Colombia, France, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Somalia, Sweden, Switzerland, Vietnam and Bangladesh.]
Mr. co-facilitators,
I have the honor to make these remarks on behalf of Cameroon, Colombia, France, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Somalia, Sweden, Switzerland, Vietnam and my own country Bangladesh.
The effective implementation of the Post-2015 Agenda requires a strong UN Development System.
The Post 2015-Agenda represents a unique opportunity for the UN Development System to prove its relevance in regards to sustainable development.
We recognize the existing mandates of the individual UN development agencies. We need not just to enhance the system-wide coordination and coherence. The UN development system must also strengthen system-wide accountability through clear system-wide planning, implementation and reporting in order to ensure a coherent and integrated contribution to implementation of the agenda, including at the country level.
Therefore we call for strengthening the section on implementation in the Declaration to properly reflect this request.
This paragraph could be either 40bis or 41bis:
We underline the important role and comparative advantage of an adequately resourced, relevant, coherent, efficient and effective United Nations system in its support to achieve the sustainable development goals and sustainable development and support the process on the longer-term positioning of the United Nations development system in the context of the post-2015 development agenda. We also stress the importance of system-wide strategic planning, implementation and reporting in order to ensure coherent and integrated implementation of the new Agenda by the UN Development System.
I thank you!
