An Action Agenda for Sustainable Development

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network has issued a draft for public consultation of its upcoming report on the post-2015 agenda. The SDSN welcomes comments on this draft to be sent to info@unsdsn.org until 22 May 2013.
The Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) have successfully focused world attention and action on ending extreme poverty in all its forms2 20 and reducing gender inequality. The fifteen-year MDG period will be completed at the end of 2015. The Rio+20 Summit in June 2012 resolved to finish the job of ending extreme poverty and hunger as a matter of urgency. It also endeavored to place poverty reduction within the broader context of sustainable development. The summit’s final outcome document, The Future We Want, calls for new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the eradication of poverty and hunger. It also launched an intergovernmental Open Working Group to make recommendations to the UN General Assembly on the design of these goals.
