    UN Women will, through the project, support Gansu Provincial Government took measures to ensure equal participation of women in CC/DRR-related policy making, so that women and men are given equal opportunity to participate in climate change/disaster risk reduction policy-making in Gansu Province.
    Implementation of the Project/Activity

    A research study on the gender-specific impacts of, and role of women in, CC/DRR policies, policy-making and adaptation/ mitigation measures will be conducted. The findings of the research study will be used for a legislative proposal for a Policy addressing Climate Change/Disaster Risk Reduction with Gender Sensitivity, which will be submitted to Gansu provincial legislative institutions. Training will be provided to about 50 local people from the two project sites on knowledge of gender equality and advocacy skills to present their ideas for gender-sensitive legislation on coping with and mitigating, climate change/disaster risk, enabling local women to get involved in CC/DRR legislative processes in the two pilot counties. A training workshop on gender and CC/DRR will be given to officials from legislative institutions and policy-making departments to build the capacity among government at the provincial level to address gender in CC/DRR policies and policy-making. An advocacy conference on gender and CC/DRR policies to enhance awareness of the importance of women and men's equal role in adapting to and mitigating climate change and disaster risk will be held, including government officials, policy makers and the media.
