Sustainable urban agriculture

    Extensive land degradation and urbanization has made it much harder for small scale agriculture that was common in parts of Uganda. Urban areas lack the space needed for local communities to grow their own food and thus progress towards food security at the most local levels. The project is motivated by a simple question - how can we scale-up sustainable landscape management to significantly reduce green house gas emissions while ensuring food, water, and energy security. The objective was to develop a simple, cheap, and replicable system that is an economically sustainable method of agriculture in space restricted urban areas.
