Realizing Sustainable Tourism in Small Island Communities.

    Description
    Description
Responding to Social/Environmental issues caused by rapid high influx of tourists to Palau, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation works for balancing economic growth and conservation of nature and culture in Palau based on MOU signed in February 2016 with Palau and the Nippon Foundation and a partnership with Taiwan ICDF. The latest outcomes are (1) Development of a tourism management method at World Heritage Site in Koror State, and (2) Installment of Community Based Ecotourism in Aimeliik, Ngatpang, Ngardmau and Ngaraard States. In 2018, we also started sharing methods developed with other small island countries and the Pacific region.
