    Description
    Description

MARIAMA FASHION PRODUCTION organizes workshops to train local artisans to learn how to use natural dyes in order to replace synthetic dyes. We’ve trained There Is No Limit Foundation’s 300 women tie dyers in the Republic of Guinea along with our partners on how to understand colors and use local plants to produce their textiles. We’ve also conducted these trainings with artisans in Adjamé and Grand Bassam in Côte D’Ivoire. Additionally, we have partnered with KANAFRIK to produce reusable bags that consumers in Abidjan can use instead of single use bags.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

Our project is done through our studio / and local artisans space conducted by countries.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Our workshops and training will develop great talent across the African continent and help to understand the textile value chain, implementing natural dye to textile production, quality control, capacity building, reusing and recycling, responsible fashion practices, knowledge and opportunities to enter the global market with confidence. Our programs strengthen and help develop the luxury industry of “Made In Africa” and create more employment and economic growth.

    Coordination mechanisms

We have partnered with There Is No Limit Foundation (TINLF), KANAFRIK & local producers in West Africa to bring skills training, sustainable textiles production (with natural dyes) by replacing synthetic dyes with local plants, recycling, reusing materials and job creation while supporting local producers.

    Evaluation

We aim to build models for economic development rooted in dignity, craftsmanship and the skills and culture of the community to create more opportunities. Our model will empower artisans, artists and emerging designers across the African continent, particularly women, to invest in themselves and fuel global prosperity through education in natural dye practices. Increased knowledge and training will attract more global partnerships and give more trust to international brands to source and produce in Africa.
