Hazardous waste fees

The government policy regarding hazardous waste is aimed at ensuring that hazardous waste will not enter and pollute the environment. This policy is reflected by the main objective of a specific secondary legislation on hazardous waste, which was passed in 1999. The legislation commands that generation of hazardous waste shall be prevented as much as possible, and that re-use and recovery of hazardous waste that is generated nonetheless shall be promoted. The municipalities are responsible for setting up collection points where hazardous waste can be delivered to and for transporting collected waste for recovery or disposal at permitted facilities.
