Eskom's Internal Energy Efficiency Programme
Description
Eskom adopted a six step approach to energy efficiency across the country. This started with an energy audit footprint and installation of metering technology, tuning up each building, upgrading lighting, making other load reductions such as water heating and office equipment, upgrading HVAC and AHU and monitoring verifying and maintaining savings. Upgrading of Eskom buildings and facilities will continue and energy efficient technologies inplemented. The second phase of the project will look to reduce the energy impact at the power stations in their primary and auxiliary plants and will also be concerned with reducing the energy consumed in the process of distributing energy (line losses). The programme is funded through Eskom and implemented by the various Divisions within the organisation.
