Supporting marine environment monitoring service, notably in coastal areas and the Arctic
Achievement at a glance
The Copernicus Marine Service provides the EU with a world-leading, reference digital information service on the world ocean and EU regional seas.It provides regular and systematic reference information on the physical and biogeochemical state, variability and dynamics of the ocean and marine ecosystems for the global ocean and the European regional seas. Copernicus Marine directly contributes to EU’s marine and maritime-related policies and supports applications dealing with e.g., maritime safety, sustainable use of marine resources, healthy waters, informing coastal and marine hazard services, ocean climate services, protecting marine biodiversity.
Concerning Arctic and Coastal domains, two Thematic Hubs (Arctic Hub | Arctic Hub (https://www.arctic.hub.copernicus.eu/); Coastal Hub | Coastal Hub (https://www.coastal.hub.copernicus.eu/)) were launched at the end of 2023 to group in one single entry point the ensemble of data, information and products generated by the different Copernicus services in relation to a specific theme, policy or geographical area. The purpose is easing the journey of the inexperienced “core” and “non-core” users and avoid having to search key information on a selected area of interest thought the various Services.
