Achievement at a glance
While there has been some major delays in the project due to various reasons, it is now showing positive progress, with several output-level results being achieved. The project is demonstrating advancement in areas such as Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM, capacity building, and governance strengthening. Notable progress has been made in institutionalizing EAFM principles and addressing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. National workshops and policy assessments were successfully conducted across multiple countries, resulting in key outcomes related to gender mainstreaming and enhanced stakeholder engagement.Challenges faced in implementation
The adoption or endorsement of the voluntary for the FAO methodological framework for assessing Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing faces delay due to the time required for consideration by participating countries.Next Steps
