Progress report for
Reduce the environmental impact of fashion industry by promoting circularity of fabrics

Achievement at a glance
In the time we have been active, we are on track toward the SDG targets for 2025.We have in our catalog the equivalent of 75kg of textile waste. We have been able to prevent the emission of 15.761.913 liters of water and 78.747 kilograms of CO2.
We are also offsetting our CO2 emissions derived from transportation in an attempt to reduce our carbon footprint.
Next Steps
After a year and a half in the business, we have added some new lines of business that will help us in our aim to arrive at our SDG targets such as Recycling, focusing on materials with sustainable characteristics (organic, recycled content, or recyclable). Our next steps are to keep the track of the environmental impact in the different lines so we can arrive at those targets.
According to our projections just with the repurposing of fabrics, we will be able to avoid the use of 507.068.138 liters of water and 5.191.824 kg of carbon emissions (CO2).
Beneficiaries
There is a common problem, fashion companies end up with leftover fabric stock after producing a collection.
According to the Ellen McArthur Foundation, 12% of the input that enters the value chain with the intention of becoming clothing ends up as waste. Which is translated into 92M tons of textile waste generated per year.
On top of this, the EU prohibits the destruction of unsold stock. (Waste Law 2021) and brands need partners to repurpose and recycle materials.
Thanks to our platform Brands that want to produce sustainable collections that generate the lowest impact and have hard accessing sustainable materials due to price, MOQ, and production times can access materials from suppliers that want to get rid of their deadstock complying with the new law.
Actions
During this year we have launched several communication campaigns promoting the movement and the impact saved with the participation of seller and buyer firms. Now in Recovo, we have new business lines for customers that have other needs so we give them the most sustainable option such as recycling their deadstock or using it for upcycling. And since September 2022 we’re also compensating for the transport emission of CO2 from our business.
We believe in sustainability through data that’s why with a third-party company we’re auditing all the textile materials that are published on our platform to have the environmental impact associated with each product.
Therefore with this information, we can either inform the buyer of the exact data they’re avoiding thanks to selecting a fabric that already exists and offering also the option of having this data on a label for their collections. We also send the sellers a bi-annual impact report of the fabrics they have sold. In this way, we promote the closing-the-loop philosophy and we encourage brands to join the movement.
