Singapore to become LNG bunker ready port
Achievement at a glance
MPA’s first 2 LNG bunker supply licensees have commenced operations since 1 January 2017. In Feb 2021, MPA awarded the third LNG bunker supply license which commenced on 1 Jan 2022.MPA has awarded SGD12 million of co-funding to build 6 LNG-fuelled vessels, of which 5 are operational today, and SGD6 million of co-funding to build LNG bunker vessels, of which 1 was delivered in 2021 and has commenced regular ship-to-ship LNG bunker transfer to international vessels since.
MPA also co-funded SGD2 million for the building of the LNG truck-loading facility at Singapore LNG terminal.
Singapore has developed standards and procedures of LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore. Furthermore, there are incentives such as the Green Port Programme that grant port dues discounts to LNG-fuelled vessels that call on our Port.
