Silambam Tournament (District, National and International)Challenges faced in implementation
Lack of involvement by parents or guardians because of their shortage of time (desk-bound job), bad experience (in their past with silambam teacher or instructors), illiteracy on the Indian traditional arts, culture, and sports, lack knowledge about Silambam teaching system or programs, distance between training/tournament place with house and some parents don't have transportation to bring their children. These challenges caused many children unable to attend and participate in the Silambam program.Next Steps
Need to establish appropriate contact hours to conduct special awareness programs, courses, seminars, and workshops for all the parents and participating schools in the future date. Tournament posters with a map, GPS coordination, and public transportation guidelines have been created accordingly.Beneficiaries
Children, Youth, Adults, Poverty Group, Tribes, Indigenous Communities, village, semi/urban, students, teachers, related organizations and schools.
