Singapore contributes to capacity building for the prevention of pollution by ships
Achievement at a glance
Through co-operating with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under Singapore-IMO Third Country Training Programme (TCTP), Singapore will continue to provide a number of capacity building courses to developing countries. Various maritime and port officials from around the world have been trained under the Singapore-IMO TCTP.The TCTP facilitates the transfer of knowledge and expertise to maritime and port officials to effectively implement IMO instruments to prevent pollution from ships.
Challenges faced in implementation
As the trainers from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) are practitioners who have their respective day-to-day jobs, careful scheduling is required to ensure the availability of trainers for the appropriate courses.Next Steps
