Progress report for
SDGs for Better Fashion
Achievement at a glance
In the first 18 months of our initiative 'SDGs for Better Fashion' we were able to integrate the SDGs into every lecture, keynote presentation and project we developed. Although our initiative uses 4 SDGs to track its impact, all 17 SDGs are considered in our work. We had in-person engagement with consumers and fashion professionals, as well as a successful free webinar for consumers.Challenges faced in implementation
One of the main challenges was to provide examples of solutions for fashion production, consumption and recycling, that can be implemented in the Latin american context. e.g. Textile recycling bins (SDG 12) are not available in countries like Mexico, Peru or Brazil.Next Steps
We will continue accelerating the integration of the SDGs in the global fashion industry. We plan to reach more fashion students through a train-the-trainer approach, where educators are the replicators of this knowledge. Endorse fashion companies to report towards the SDG targets. Widespread consumer awareness, with a special focus on Latin America.Beneficiaries
800+ Beneficiaries: 200+ viewers of the free webinar for consumers | 200+ visitors to Sustainable Fashion Pop-up exhibition | Over 200 industry professionals at the events we participated | 100 fashion design students in Germany & Brazil that attended our workshops.
