It includes communities of marine management areas, indigenous groups, groups of Afro-descendants, mollusc communities and several other fishing and community organizations. \r\n\r\nFollowing the instruction of the Board of Directors of CoopeSoliDar R.L., the cooperative has implementing together with the above network immediate actions to help reduce the impact on these small-scale artisanal fishing communities by the crisis of COVID19 in the context of the SSF guidelines.\r\nChallenges faced in implementation
1. Long-term processes that generate relationships of transparency and mutual aid strengthen the resilience of organizations and collective efforts aimed at small-scale artisanal fisheries. CoopeSoliDar R.L., as an organization, has made a long-term commitment to these sectors.\ Artisanal fishworkers, despite being highly vulnerable in terms of social, environmental and economic stability, possess a great capacity for resilience when facing crisis situations. These capabilities must be lauded and further strengthened in the context of an emergency situation and after. The challenges posed by this pandemic have become an opportunity to innovate solidarity strategies and methods of exchange on social networks. As this has become a basic and indispensable means for meeting, learning and disseminating information and knowledge.\r\n\r\n5. A social solidarity economy increases the possibilities of a fair and horizontal trade dynamic between producers and consumers. Strengthened capacities for teamwork and collaboration between different entities has been essential in reactivating the economy for many fishworking families. CoopeSoliDar R.L., the artisanal fishing sector and other involved entities came together to work on this, such that fishworking families could return to fishing with dignity and continue contributing to the identity and food security of the country. It is essential to continuously strengthen the fisher organization and to participate within the Marine Responsible Fishing Areas and Marine Territories of life network in order to influence public policies that support and improve the living conditions of the small-scale artisanal fishing sector. The valorisation of traditional knowledge in fishing and the right to decent work are fundamental elements for deepening democracy in the country.Beneficiaries
