The international union for the conservation of Nature, IUCN has been supported (SEK 8 million) by the Swedish government during 2017 for the following projects:The blue carbon content and potential of MPA networks and other effective area-based conservation measures in Mozambique and Tanzania

The Ocean Foundation has been supported (SEK 4 million) by the Swedish government to increase ocean acidification monitoring and measuring capacity in developing regions. A number of training and workshops has been held, i.e. on Fiji in the Pacific.
