At the gate of SDG A system thinking and multidisciplinary platform to UN-SDG2030
Achievement at a glance
As the second deliverable, students who attended the Integrated Modification Methodology for built environment (IMM) class part of the MSc in Building and Architectural Eng., produced a digital storytelling in the form of a 5’ video. With the consideration of the fact that stories engage our attention, influence our beliefs or actions and help us to explore the future, this short video aims of promoting the role of SDG in our daily life and to increase the people awareness on the topic of the sustainable developmentThe video titled: "At the gate of the Prom" presenting a daily experience of two youth university students in love, the day before the university prom, aims to show how the SDGs are part of our daily life and how simple decisions may make the difference for our common future.
It aims to increase the people awareness, focusing on hopes instead of problems, it aims to involve everyone as part of the story and to let everyone the felling to be part of the possible solution.
During the course of Urban Design two different activities were developed:
• 11SDG and public space individual task (involving 100 students). Students developed a critical investigation focusing on the contribution of public space design to the achievement of 11SDG goals: students discussed individually and together with the aim to provide ideas, principles responding to some common questions (how the public space/public urban life design can contribute to the 11SDG achievements? What guidelines transferable to urban design process can be addressed?)
• 11SDG and public space design workgroup (involving about 30/40 students) coordinated the class activities summarizing some main inputs and shared ideas.
The main outcome was an international seminar of presentation of main outcomes organized and presented by the students.

Challenges faced in implementation
Although the positive recognized value of the Digital Storytelling as powerful tool for disseminate a clear message through people involvement, we faced some problem to- determine a key message or narrative
- fill the lack of specific technical competence,
- consider time constraints,
- access to technical equipment.
- deliver a clear message
- develop a strong team work environment
Next Steps
The video is going to be presented in public meetings, at university, at schools and public debates with the aims of fostering an open discussion on the role of the SDGs in our daily life. Then video will be also published and distributed by the most common social networks. The main aims to involve and disseminate the awareness especially between youth by a media to which they are very familiar with and through a daily story in which they easily can identify themselves. When the video will be uploaded on the web and shared by it a forum will be lunched. The urban design outcome will be summarized and presented also in next Urban design class (as principles for urban design and public space design). A dissemination of main outcomes form the urban design activities will be published both in academic journal and REsilienceLAB web site / media (association supporting the dissemination of good practices and tools for sustainability and resilience).
