Deliverable 2
- The IMarEST set up its NGO Partnership scheme and has since partnered with its first NGO Thames Estuary Partnership, a UK-based charity developing projects on blue infrastructure, environmental enrichment and fisheries for environmental benefits to the river Thames. The scheme is open to all non-profit organisations operating in the marine sector and offers free membership benefits to staff and volunteers to help inspire and support young people into the ocean industry.
- The IMarESTs European International Submarine Races 2018 (eISR) were held between 3-13 July at QinetiQs Ocean Basin in Gosport, UK. The two-week event saw the Canadian cole de Technologie Suprieure team taking the winning trophy while breaking the world speed record. The biannual event allowed students to strengthen their C.V.s and the chance to meet with industry experts at the eISR Open Day.
- Following the launch of the IMarESTs Student Sections, three sections have been set up at Newcastle University, UK; University of Southampton, UK; and University of Strathclyde, UK. They are very active, with a young professionals event held in April 2019 and a student project competition presentation evening with the IMarEST President presenting the awards.
- The IMarEST offers a total of 11 different awards, prizes and bursaries are available for students and graduates to apply for. From January 2019 December 2019, the IMarEST presented 33 individuals with awards.
