Establishment of 4.3 million ha marine conservation areas to reach 20 million ha by 2019
Achievement at a glance
Indonesia through the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has successfully established more than 6.69 millions hectares of marine conservation areas, and in total achieved 23.1 million hectares until 2019. This achievement exceeds the target to establish in total of 20 million hectares of marine conservation area by 2019 as stipulated in 2015-2019 Midterm National Management Plan.Challenges faced in implementation
